Glut-A-Mat…I just love this
name, yet when you hurt, you do what you must do.
Position
Place the Relax Mat® on a firm surface and press and release in the marked
areas of your buttocks, as the model is demonstrating. Use the 12/7 principle.
Some have released the gluts simply by pressing into the wall with the Relax
Mat®, but I find it easier to release these muscles when they are relaxed in a
lying position.
Press
Press down one side of your buttocks, then go to the other side and do the
same. Remember to use one knob at a time and do not press into bony areas. Do
stretches (as shown below), then return to that spot or spots and once again
lay on the Relax Mat® using either the higher or lower rounded knob. Remember
to use the 12/7 count.
Stretch
Do your favorite stretches, provided by your health care professional.
Aquatherapy
This can also be done in aqua therapy, in whatever position works for you.
Remember to use the 12/7 count.
